Local Wi-Fi Network Setup

No Internet or SIM Cards Required

Class Control uses high-speed local network communication. All devices must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network:

Option A: Classroom Wi-Fi Router

Connect both the teacher's phone and all student devices to your school's local Wi-Fi router. Even if the router has no internet connection, local LAN communication will work perfectly!

Option B: Teacher's Mobile Hotspot

If there is no router in the classroom, turn on the Wi-Fi Hotspot on the Teacher's phone and connect the student tablets to that hotspot. Mobile data can be turned OFF to save data.

School Network Notice: Ensure "AP Isolation" or "Client Isolation" is disabled in your school router settings so devices can discover each other.

Setting up the Teacher Console (Admin)

Control Center for All Classroom Devices
  1. Launch Class Control on the teacher's Android phone or tablet.
  2. Tap on Admin Dashboard (Teacher Mode).
  3. When prompted for the Security PIN, enter the default PIN: 1234.
  4. First-Time Setup: You can enter your School or Classroom Name (e.g. "Grade 10 Lab - Room 4").
  5. Change Your PIN: We highly recommend tapping the 3-Dots Menu (⋮) → Reset Admin PIN to set your custom confidential teacher PIN.
Tip: The Teacher Dashboard automatically listens on local Wi-Fi port 8888 for incoming learner announcements and displays cards for all student stations in real time.

Setting up Student Stations (Learner Mode)

Zero Student Sign-in & Automatic Kiosk Protection
  1. Install Class Control on each student tablet or phone.
  2. On the main screen, tap Learner Station.
  3. The station launches instantly! No usernames, passwords, or emails required.
  4. Dedicated School Tablets (Kiosk Setup): On the main screen, under "Device Setup & Kiosk Options", tap Set Default Launcher and choose Class Control as the Home app. Now pressing the Home button keeps students securely in the learning environment!
4

Granting Permissions on Student Devices

One-Time Setup for Supervision

To enable the anti-distraction lock and screen streaming, grant these permissions once on each learner station:

A. Usage Access (Keep Learner in Approved Apps)

When entering Learner Mode, tap "Grant Usage Access" or enable Class Control under Settings → Special App Access → Usage Access. This allows the app to detect and block unauthorized apps.

B. Appear on Top / Overlay Permission

Enable "Display over other apps" so the locked screen banner can cover unapproved apps when a student tries to enter unauthorized settings.

C. Screen Capture Permission

Tap Screen Capture Permission on the main screen and choose "Start Now" / "Allow". This authorizes live screen viewing for the teacher.

Learners can only open applications approved by the teacher. All other apps (social media, games, camera, settings) are locked.

To add an approved app:

  • From Teacher Console: Tap 3-Dots Menu (⋮) → Manage Allowed Apps.
  • Tap Add App to select any installed educational tool (e.g. Calculator, Offline Wikipedia, E-Reader, Coding IDE).
  • Tap Push to All Devices to instantly sync the approved app list across the classroom!

As a teacher, you can watch what any student is doing on their screen in real time with ultra-low latency:

  3. Tap View Screen on any station card.
  4. The student's screen streams live in high definition on your screen! Tap full screen to expand.
7

Troubleshooting & Frequently Asked Questions

Fast Answers to Common Scenarios

Student devices do not appear on the Teacher Dashboard?

Make sure both teacher and student devices are connected to the exact same Wi-Fi name (SSID). In school environments, check that the Wi-Fi router does not have "AP Isolation" or "Guest Network Isolation" turned on.

Can students exit the app by pressing Home or Back?

If Class Control is set as the Default Launcher, pressing Home will always bring them back to the approved Learner Station. Pressing Back also remains inside the Learner screen unless the Teacher PIN is entered.

Does screen monitoring consume internet data?

No! Zero mobile data or external internet is consumed. Screen transmission is 100% peer-to-peer over the local wireless router.

How many student devices can connect to one teacher?

Class Control is optimized for standard classrooms and computer labs (up to 40–60 devices per Wi-Fi access point simultaneously).
